This is mainly a test to see if you're checking in like I asked you to! I'd like you to leave a comment that answers the following question:
What activities or service/missions projects would you like to participate in as a class this year? These can be local or global, so don't let geography hold you back. When you comment, please be detailed, remembering that I may not know the specific ministry you are referring to.
For most of you, Bible memory was a bit shaky last week. This is an area that definitely could be improved on. I suggest writing out the verses each week on a flashcard and keeping it close by to pull out when you have a few moments to memorize.
Bible memory for this week is Acts 1:6-8. I've quoted it below:
So when they met together, they asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?"
He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
I'm more of a let my actions speak for my words kinda guy then my words speak for my actions. I like doing community projects such as helping out the food kitchen or fixing things for the less blessed people. In short I like to do hands on projects rather then go out and just preach. I would rather others come to me and ask why I'm doing this or whats so different about my actions then others.I feel like others curiosity is like a spark to be able to spread the word. Let them come to us. Tyson Gilroy
ReplyDeleteI'd love to, of course, do the Victoria YWAM program. I'd like to get involved in a couple of the soup kitchens around town. I know St. George's and our church has a soup kitchen, but our's is only open on Saturdays, however, and I think St. George's is up and running on week days. Even if we went to the city and offered to do community clean up/whatever chores they have going for free would be a cool way to bless the community. I can't remember if the Salvation Army thing the grade 11's did last year in bible class. Was it a soup kitchen? I'm not sure, but that could definitely be something that we check out.

ReplyDeleteGet really high. Like go to mount everest or somethin'
ReplyDeleteI think it would be a really cool experience to do something with Unicef. I was looking on their website, and most of the opportunities are mainly involve fundraising. I was thinking we could either host an event (more information on that can be found on their website), or attend an event somewhere else. I think this would be a really fun opportunity.
ReplyDeleteThe Victoria YWAM program sounds fun. I think that we should also do a bunch of local missions like the soup kitchen or even visiting people at the old folks center. I also think that it would be cool to do a end of the year missions trip at the end of the year but I don't have any organizations in mind. -Kate
ReplyDeleteI would like to do two different trips, one outreach trip (the Victoria trip)where we work on the streets, and a longer trip, where we go to a community and work in children's centers.
